finalists announcement

November 6rd

To become a book, a photographic project must go through the stages of conceptualization, editing, sequencing, graphic design, and finally, materialization. These stages constitute the editorial process and are only made possible through the collaborative effort of various professionals involved. The FELIFA International Award seeks to highlight these stages, showcase the roles, and recognize the multiple areas of knowledge that make a photolibrary possible.

For this purpose, the award includes three categories that highlight the phases of the publication's development:

  • Editing
  • Graphic Design
  • Materialization

In each category, a group of finalist books will be selected, and one title will be chosen as the winner of that category. From all the finalist books, one will be distinguished as the Best Photobook, becoming the winner of the FELIFA International Award.

The winners of the categories and the FELIFA International Award will be announced during the 18th edition of FELIFA at the awards ceremony on Saturday, November 11th, 2023.

An exhibition of the awarded and finalist books will be inaugurated in December 2023 at the Haroldo Conti Cultural Center of Memory in Buenos Aires and then travel to other partner institutions in Latin America during 2024 and part of 2025.

The exhibition will study the winning books, highlighting their particular characteristics and pointing out the editorial, design, and materialization decisions. It will be an exhibition that showcases the richness and complexity of editorial work.
